      Outdoor Activity Centre

       

      Outdoor Activity Centre (OAC)

      The Outdoor Activity Centre welcomes disabled guests and guests with special needs but require reasonable advanced notice. Because the OAC activities are physically demanding not all activities will be suitable for all guests. Each activity has strict safety requirements. Our staff will be happy to discuss individual requirements either by phone prior to your visit or on site during your stay.

      The Outdoor Activity Centre has level access through double opening doors.

      The centre is fully accessible inside.

      There is an accessible toilet. Lockers are also accessible within the building.

      A Mobility vehicle is available to access these activities for wheelchair users and ambulant guests who have difficulty walking substantial distances. Please note that due to space constraints, only the person who is unable to walk and two others can be carried in the vehicle. Please notify the staff at the time of booking if this service is required.

      The Outdoor Activity Centre is host to the following activities:

      Target Archery

      The Target Archery area is on the perimeter of the Center Parcs site. It is reached by roadway and the final access is via a block paved pathway.

      This activity is suitable for guests using wheelchairs. This activity is not suitable for persons with no or very limited sight. Guests with partial sight can participate in this activity with verbal instruction and physical assistance from the Instructor or a member of the guest’s party.

      To take part in this activity it is important that all participants can follow and abide by the instructions given by the tutor.

      There are no accessible toilets in this area. The nearest accessible toilets can be located at the Outdoor Activity Centre, approximately 1 minute walk.

      There is a small spectator viewing area.

      Field Archery

      This activity involves traversing a forest environment to shoot at animal shaped targets in various locations. The target locations are placed to reflect the natural habitat of the animals involved.

      The fundamental aim of this activity means that access may be challenging for those with limited mobility or sight impairment. The Field Archery area is on the perimeter of the Center Parcs site. The event involves walking on uneven ground (forest floor) from target to target. Some of the targets are sited on a gradient.

      This activity may not be suitable for those with significant movement impairment. Target archery is available as an alternative.

      To take part in this activity it is important that all participants can follow and abide by the instructions given by the tutor.

      The nearest accessible toilet is located at the Outdoor Activity Centre, approximately 1 minute walk.

      Due to the nature of this activity, there is a limited spectator viewing area.

      Robin Hood & Little John Archery

      The Robin Hood area is on the perimeter of the Center Parcs site. It is reached by roadway and the final access is via a block paved pathway. This activity is suitable for guests using wheelchairs.

      This activity would not usually be suitable for persons with no or very limited sight. Guests with partial sight can participate in this activity with verbal instruction and physical assistance from the Instructor or a member of the guest’s party.

      To take part in this activity it is important that all participants can follow and abide by the instructions given by the tutor.

      There are no accessible toilets in this area. The nearest accessible toilets can be located at the Outdoor Activity Centre, some 1 minute walk.

      There is a small spectator viewing area.

      Laser Clay Shooting

      To take part in this activity guests must be able to hold and manoeuvre a gun weighing 8lbs (3.7Kg).

      This activity is suitable for guests using wheelchairs. The activity takes place on a wood chipped surface which can become slippery when wet.

      The closest disabled toilet is located at the Outdoor Activity Centre Building approximately a 1 minute walk.

      This activity is not suitable for the visually impaired.

      Laser Combat

      This activity involves traversing a forest environment to shoot at fellow players in various locations using a Laser Combat gun. The fundamental aim of this activity means that access may be challenging for those with limited mobility or sight impairment.

      The Laser Combat area itself is on an incline. A mock resort is sited in the centre of the playing field to provide cover during the game. The event involves running around the site and shooting at the opposing team. To take part in this activity it is important that all participants can follow and abide by the instructions given by the tutor. A high degree of mobility is also necessary.

      The nearest accessible toilets are located at the Outdoor Activity Centre, approximately 1 minute walk away.

      Segways

      The Segways Activity starts at the Outdoor Activity Centre which is sited near the perimeter of the site.

      The Segway practice session takes place in the vicinity of the Outdoor Activity Centre. Following this the group will move out into the resort using pathways and roads.

      To take part in this activity guests require significant use of arms and legs and be able to understand the safety briefing and activity instructions. Guests must be able to balance as this is the prime steering method.

      Due to the style of this activity, it is not suitable for guests with limited mobility, wheelchair users or the visually impaired.

      To take part in this activity it is important that all participants can follow and abide by the instructions given by the tutor.

      Off Road Explorers

      This activity involves driving a small vehicle around a designated track. Being able to turn the steering wheel and press the pedal effectively is essential on this activity.

      Participants must be able to sit inside the vehicle safely, the age range for this activity is 3-7 years old.

      One designated mobile adult is required to support each child on this activity.

      The fundamental aim of this activity means that it may be challenging for those with limited mobility or with impaired sight.

      To take part in this activity it is important that all participants can follow and abide by instructions given by the instructor.
