Target Archery

I can try Target Archery and see if I can hit the bullseye. I will take turns using a bow and arrow and aim carefully at the target.

Going to the Outdoor Activity Centre

We will leave our lodge and walk or cycle to the Outdoor Activity Centre. When we arrive, we’ll go to the target archery range.

Listening to saftey instructions

When we get to the range, the instructor will explain important safety information. We will listen carefully so we know how to use the bow and arrows safely.

Putting on archery gloves

The instructor will give us archery gloves to wear. These will help protect our hands while we hold the bow.

Receiving a bow

After we put our gloves on, the instructor will give us a bow. They will show us how to hold it and aim at the target. If I have any questions, I can ask for help.

Aiming and shooting

When it’s safe, we will take turns aiming at the targets. I will try my best, just like the instructor showed me. Some people might hit the target right away, and others might take a few tries. Both are okay.

Collecting arrows

Once we have finished shooting our arrows, the instructor will tell us when it’s safe to walk up to the target. I will collect my arrows and look at how well I did.

Recording our scores

After collecting our arrows, we will walk back to the shooting area and write down our scores on the board. This will help us see how many points we’ve earned.

Returning our equipment

When we have finished Target Archery, we will return the bow, arrows, and gloves to the instructor. They will take care of the equipment for us.

Having a great time

Trying Target Archery can be exciting. Some people might feel proud of their shots, and others might want to practise more. Both feelings are okay.
